Hosszú távú, öt évre szóló megállapodást kötött a Wizz Air és a Pratt & Whitney. A low-cost légitársaság a vállalat környezetbarát EcoPower hajtómű tisztító berendezésének használatára írt alá szerződést.
Wizz Air has signed a long-term agreement to use Pratt & Whitney’s environmentally friendly EcoPower® engine wash system on its fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft. Pratt & Whitney is a United Technologies Corp. company.
Under the five-year agreement, Wizz Air will perform engine washes at Budapest International Airport and will also have mobile wash capability to perform washes at many airports within its route structure.
„Prior to using EcoPower engine wash, we used the conventional shepherd’s hook method to wash our engines,” said Simon Mermod, Wizz Air powerplant manager. „We switched to Pratt & Whitney’s EcoPower Engine Wash service because we recognized the operational, environmental and cost benefits it offers. With EcoPower Engine Wash, we anticipate a considerable reduction in our fuel burn while contributing to a cleaner environment.”
„We are excited to provide Wizz Air with a faster, more effective and environmentally sound solution for washing their aircraft engines,” Lou Quattrocchi, Pratt & Whitney Product Line Management vice president, said. „By using only pure atomized water, EcoPower Engine Wash provides a more thorough cleaning than conventional engine washing methods.”
Wizz Air, the largest low fare –low cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, carried 10.6 million passengers in the last 12 months. The airline’s fleet currently consists of 36 Airbus A320 aircraft operating from 15 bases in Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Serbia and Lithuania.
Pratt & Whitney’s patented EcoPower engine wash system reduces fuel burn by as much as 1.2 percent, eliminating approximately three pounds of carbon dioxide emissions for every pound of fuel saved, while also decreasing engine gas temperature, increasing the amount of time an engine can stay on wing.
Pratt & Whitney is a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines, space propulsion systems and industrial gas turbines. United Technologies, based in Hartford, Conn., is a diversified company providing high technology products and services to the global aerospace and commercial building industries.
