The Policies & Standards Manager – Ground Operations reports to the Head of Ground Operations / Nominated Person Ground Operations. The location is flexible, either Hungary or Poland, or Romania, or Bulgaria.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Policies & Standards Manager – Ground Operations is responsible for:

  • Ensuring safe ground operations through the establishment of ground operational policies, standards, and procedures;
  • Assessing all relevant technical information for inclusion in policies, standards and procedures;
  • Keeping up to date with EASA regulations and directives, IATA standards, manuals and industry best practices. Ensure their inclusion in policies, standards and procedures;
  • Informing Ground Operations, Ground Handlers and other relevant parties about updates in policies and procedures;
  • Manage the content and amendment of the Ground Handling Manual (GHM), Cargo Ground Operations Manual (CGOM) and Ground Operations Management Manual (GOMM), including issuing related Station Orders (SO) and other documents that may be deemed necessary;
  • Identify and monitor training needs of the organization and contracted partners, design, plan, and implement training programs, policies, and procedures to fulfil those needs;
  • Reviews existing training programs, suggests enhancements and modifications improve their effectiveness. Ensure that training materials and programs are current and accurate.
  • Deploy a wide variety of training methods, organize, facilitate and conduct training sessions and workshops;
  • Monitor and evaluate training programs’ effectiveness, resolve any specific problems and tailor training programs as necessary;
  • Liaison with the Senior Manager Safety, Security and Compliance ensuring that all relevant safety information is assessed and reviewed and where appropriate, incorporated;
  • Maintain timely and effective contacts with other departments within Wizz Air and with outside organizations, contractors, external entities;
  • Liaison with the competent authorities on-ground operations matters;
  • In conjunction with the Ground Operations Managers, maintain continuous oversight of deviations from company standards, ensuring the on-time execution of safety and compliance corrective and improvement actions;
  • Undertake station visits and relevant audits/inspections and training as follow up on outstanding items as Air Safety reports, mystery passenger reports, audit findings within the confines of Ground Operations processes;
  • Execute suppliers organisational audits within the Ground Operational field;
  • Keep Wizz Air`s Winter Operations Deicing/Anti-Icing procedures up to date as per the latest SAE standards. In conjunction with the Ground Operations Managers, ensure contracted de-icing providers are prepared and compliant with the newest safety standards across all Wizz Air stations before the winter season starts.
  • Support the organization of the annual Winter Readiness workshop for ground handling suppliers and de-icing suppliers to raise awareness on reoccurring issues and changes.
  • Lead or Participate in cross-functional projects and new product development from planning to introduction stage; Develop, present business cases, roadmaps and provide regular updates to the leadership team until the project is successfully realised.

AUTHORITIES OF THE FUNCTION

The Policies & Standards Manager Ground Operations has the authority to:

  • Act in case of safety issues affecting the function;
  • Escalate safety & compliance concerns to the Nominated Person, suggest suspension of operation within area of scope if deemed reasonable;
  • Liaise with Authorities;
  • Liaise with OEMs;
  • Liaison with other external entities.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Shall have a thorough knowledge of the airline ground operations concept;
  • Detailed understanding of SMS and CMS principles;
  • Very good knowledge of EASA regulations and directives, IATA manuals and standards;
  • 3 years of relevant work experience of which at least 2 years should be from the aeronautical industry in an appropriate position;
  • Good communication and organizational skills;
  • Organized and detail-oriented;
  • Work well under pressure.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Fluent English (written and spoken);
  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent;
  • Computer proficiency.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

  • Safety Management and Compliance Monitoring Systems;
  • C365 ProAuthor on-the-job training;
  • Various GO technical training.
